Gmail Easter eggs - Use dot [.] and plus [+] wisely to have multiple gmail ids from one gmail id

1. Gmail does not recognize dots or periods in email addresses or in the user names, for example an address like dog.cat@gmail.com is the same as d.o.g.c.a.t@gmail.com or dogcat@gmail.com

2. Gmail does not recognize characters after the PLUS symbol, all below mail ids are yours if you own dogcat@gmail.com, and you can add any string after PLUS sign.

dogcat+magazines@gmail.com
dogcat+college@gmail.com
dogcat+uselesssubscriptions@gmail.com

3. dogcat@gmail & dogcat@googlemail.com are same!!!

Yes, you can use googlemail.com instead of gmail.com with your gmail id, both are considered as same.

What you can do using these features?

Though all these above kind of mails are delivered to mail box of dogcat@gmail.com, gmail search filter can distinguish between these different addresses. You can apply filter for these mails to redirect to separate gmail folders or apply different labels or redirect to Archive or to Trash folder.
