Google stops new development of Notebook, one of my favorites

Google is going to stop active development on Google Notebook. This means they will no longer be adding features or offer Notebook for new users, no more new sign ups. But will continue to maintain service for those already signed up. Users who have already signed up will continue to have access to their data via the web interface at http://www.google.com/notebook.

I am one of those active users who are using Google Notebook to collect code snippets & web clippings.

Google suggests that SearchWiki, Google Docs, Tasks in Gmail and Google Bookmarks are few example Google products that offer Notebook-like functionality and moreover all these products are being actively improved and should meet user needs.

Apart from Google Notebook, following products are already in the list, which are going to be slashed.

• Google Video
• Google Catalog Search
• Dodgeball
• Google Mashup
• Jaiku
• Knol [ Knol may be getting the ax, but not now ]
