Google Apps Standard Edition for your domain is FREE with 50 user licenses

Yes you read it right. If you own a domain, you can register to have Google Apps standard Edition for FREE with 50 user licenses.

Here's how it works. Say you own a web site domain name like abcd.com. With a Google Apps account associated with this domain, you can create up to 50 users (in the free plan) in Google Apps, like name1@abcd.com, name2@abcd.com, name3@abcd.com and so on. Each person gets his or her own email account, calendar (for sharing amongst the group), instant messenger account on Google Talk, and Google Docs account for sharing and collaborating on office documents like spreadsheets, Word documents, and slide shows.

Steps to get it done.

1. Complete Google Apps standard Edition registration

2. Verify your domain ownership

3. Change MX records by Signing in to your domain account website, and go to the MX record maintenance page. MX records may be located in DNS Management, Mail Server Configuration, or Name Server Man

3.1. Delete all existing MX entries. By default, MX records may already be present.
3.2. Enter the following MX records.

Priority--> Mail Server
1  --> ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
5  --> ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
5  --> ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
10 --> ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
10 --> ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.

4. Once verification is completed, you can access your Google Apps dashboard
https://www.google.com/a/yourdomain.com

5. you can change this lengthy URL to http://mail.yourdomain.com, all you need to do is create a sub domain 'mail' from your domain provider site and change the CNAME address to point to google.com/a/yourdomain.com. That's it.

6. Now you can login to your Google Apps dashboard to start creating users & utilize almost all the gmail features [ mail, docs, sites, gtalk, contacts and so on ].
